Introducing Our Fuel Station Savings Calculator — See What You Could Save Per Year
Pick your usual forecourt, choose E10 or B7, and we estimate how much you could save by filling up at a cheaper station within two miles — using the same live prices as the FuelNearby map.
A Number You Can Actually Use
Everyone knows fuel prices vary between stations — but it is easy to underestimate how much that gap is worth over a year. Our new Fuel Station Savings Calculator turns live list prices into a simple estimate: if you switched from your usual forecourt to a cheaper option nearby, how much could you save per fill and per year?
It uses the same hourly retailer data as the rest of FuelNearby, so you are not comparing against guesswork or crowd-sourced prices.
How It Works
The flow is deliberately quick:
- Search for a place — enter a town, postcode, or area in the UK
- Pick the station you usually use — we load nearby forecourts so you can select your regular one from the list
- Choose your fuel — E10 unleaded or B7 diesel
- Set how often you fill up — from once a day down to once a month (each option maps to a realistic number of fills per year)
- Set litres per fill — 55 litres is a sensible default for many family cars, but you can adjust between 15 and 120 litres
We then look for cheaper listed prices within two miles of your chosen station. If we find a better price for your fuel type, we show your estimated saving per fill and saving per year. If you are already on the best nearby price for that snapshot, we tell you honestly — there is nothing to gain from switching on that run.
Why Two Miles?
We use a two-mile radius for comparisons because it keeps suggestions in the range of a small detour on a commute or local trip — close enough to be realistic, wide enough to surface meaningful price differences. Your actual best option might be slightly further if you are planning a longer journey; the map is always there for a wider view.
What the Figure Is (and Is Not)
The calculator is a planning tool, not a promise at the pump:
- List prices come from the same feeds as our map; promotions, loyalty discounts, and the price on the day can differ
- Stations open, close, and change prices — always confirm on the forecourt before you fill
- If no other station within two miles beats your usual price (or no competitor has a price for that fuel), we will say so
Used with that in mind, it answers a practical question: is my usual station costing me enough that a different local forecourt is worth remembering?
