MOT History Check FAQ (UK)

Common questions about the MOT history checker on FuelNearby.

Where does this MOT information come from?
Results are requested live from official DVSA MOT records. FuelNearby does not store your number plate or history in a database for this tool — each lookup is processed as a one-off request.
Is this the same as the GOV.UK MOT checker?
The underlying data is from DVSA. This page is an independent FuelNearby tool, not a GOV.UK service. For official transactions and the public checker, use GOV.UK.
Why might a vehicle have no MOT tests listed?
DVSA only returns history where it holds valid MOT test records for that registration. Very new vehicles, imports, or data gaps can mean an empty list even when a vehicle exists.
What registration format should I use?
Enter your UK registration (VRN) as on the plate. Spaces and punctuation are removed and letters are uppercased to match the normalised registration DVSA expects.
